Will focus on implementation of NEP: Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, new JNU VC

Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, the newly appointed VC of JNU, said that she will focus on the implementation of the National Education Policy.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University, JNU, had a historic day on February 7, as the university got its first woman Vice-Chancellor. On Monday, the newly appointed VC, Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, said that she will focus on the implementation of the National Education Policy, and will provide a gender-sensitive environment for academic excellence.
"As vice-chancellor of JNU, I thank both the Hon'ble Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education for giving me this opportunity as the first woman and alumnus of this esteemed University of the state of Tamil Nadu," she said in a statement.
She added that she is looking forward to working with students and faculty members.
The 59-year-old is also an alumna of JNU, where she pursued her MPhil as well as PhD in International Relations.
M Jagadesh Kumar, who was holding the charge of acting VC at the JNU after his five-year term ended last year, was last week appointed as the chairman of the UGC.
