Will file defamation case against Noida top cop over Shrikant Tyagi charges: Swami Prasad Maurya

SP leader Swami Prasad Maurya has said he would file a defamation case against the Noida police commissioner for linking him to goon leader Shrikant Tyagi.
Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya on Thursday said he would file a defamation case against the Noida police commissioner who didn't investigate the incident and claimed that the SP leader has provided the MLA car sticker to goon leader Shrikant Tyagi.
"The police commissioner has taken my name without investigation. I will file a defamation claim against the police commissioner. The police commissioner has raised my name, not Shrikant Tyagi," Swami Prasad Maurya told India Today/Aaj Tak.
"My support base has increased. The BJP is scared of this and this is the reason why my name is being raised again and again. When I was in the BJP, how did Shrikant Tyagi take membership? It should be checked. This is the politics of the BJP, that is why my name was raised. Sometimes in the STF case and sometimes in the Shrikant case. How did he get the pass on his Fortuner car, BJP should tell this," Maurya said.
He also claimed that, "I, myself, was issued the car sticker today. That too of 2022. How can I give the pass to anyone? If he has 2023 pass, ask BJP."
Goon leader Shrikant Tyagi, arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a woman in Noida, was seen flaunting a sticker on his vehicle that falsely identified him as an MLA. During questioning, he allegedly revealed that the sticker on his car was provided by Swami Prasad Maurya.
On his part, Swami Prasad Maurya earlier staunchly refuted Tyagi’s allegation. He accused the BJP, the party Tyagi claimed to be associated with, of misleading the people with lies and deception.
“I didn't give any pass to Shrikant Tyagi. This is a lie of the BJP, it is a gimmick. BJP is blaming me for its mistake,” he earlier told India Today/Aaj Tak.
