Two BJP leaders threatened police during a protest over the water crisis in Bengal's Bankura district. One of them said, "I will feed you the food from jail. I will strip you off your clothes. I will strip you off your uniform..."
Two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders allegedly made an inflammatory speech while protesting over the water crisis in Chhatna village in the Bankura district of West Bengal on Thursday afternoon.
BJP leader Jiban Chakraborty, who rebuked a local police officer in his speech, was later arrested over the incident.
Chakraborty said, "I will feed you the food from jail. I will strip you off your clothes. I will strip you off your uniform. You have kept a few men who term you as sir... You think yourself to be a rowdy?"
Earlier in the day, another BJP leader in Jalpaiguri was also heard making inflammatory statements and threatening the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). Shyam Prasad, a BJP leader in the Jalpaiguri district, said that at first, "the regime will change and then revenge will be taken".

"We will change this regime and also ensure revenge. Listen to this carefully, we want to tell this to the TMC and also to you [police]. The more you torture us, we will give it back...just as you are all targeting our family members, we shall target the family members of all those police officers too. This is my promise. So mend your ways before it’s too late. Remember, TMC’s days are numbered," said the Jalpaiguri BJP leader on Thursday.
The statements by the two BJP leaders came days after an arson attack in Bengal's Birbhum district killed eight people. The attack was seen as retaliation for the murder of Bhadu Sheikh, who was the TMC 'upa-pradhan' of the local panchayat.
