A 4,000-acre wildfire in New Mexico has destroyed 150 structures, officials in the town of Ruidoso said Tuesday evening.
Officials were telling many of the village's 7,600 residents to evacuate and go to the convention center. More evacuation orders are possible, they said.
"At this time 150 homes and structures have been lost," town officials said on Facebook. Crews knocked the fire back near the middle school, the post says, and 1,700 students from the high school, middle school and elementary school were evacuated to the convention center.
