WI vs IND | Best thing about him is that he knows exactly what is required: Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Arshdeep Singh
India Today
Arshdeep Singh claimed 2/18 against England and 2/24 against West Indies in two T20Is that he has played for India so far.
India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar said that he has been surprise by the maturity of young Arshdeep Singh, whose brilliance in death overs has landed him a place in the national team.
Punjab Kings left-arm pacer Arshdeep has the ability to bowl yorkers at will and that too with an ice-cool approach in death overs. It is this talent that has brought him into the selection mix of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Arshdeep, who made his T20I debut against England last month, has so far played two games, the other match against West Indies. While showcasing his final overs prowess, the 23-year-old claimed 2/18 against England and 2/24 against West Indies.
"The best thing about him is that he knows exactly what is required," Bhuvneshwar was quoted as saying. "What kind of field setting is needed, how to bowl to each batsman - very few newcomers display that kind of maturity.
"Usually you learn these things as you play but he seems to have arrived with that kind of maturity. Even in the IPL in the last couple of years, he has performed consistently. He knows exactly what he wants to do, he thinks a lot about his game."
Former West Indies fast bowler and now cricket commentator Ian Bishop and former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori were among those who had said Arshdeep's mastery of reading the game could come in handy at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The showpiece event will take place from October 16 to November 13.
