Indian all-rounder Axar Patel commented on his Man Of The Match performance in the second ODI against West Indies on Sunday and hailed it as a special one.
The visitors were set a tough target of 312 runs to chase, courtesy of a magnificent hundred by Shai Hope. The West Indies opener also received support from his captain Nicholas Pooran, who scored a valuable 77-ball &4.
In response, India had a slow start and had lost three wickets for just 79 runs in 17.2 overs. However, a fine partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson swung the match back in the favour of the Indian team.
While the hosts did manage to claw their way back into the game to ensure a nail-biting finish, Patel scored an incredible 35-ball 64 to guide India over the finish line. The all-rounder's innings consisted of three boundaries and five sixes.
Patel had also bowled economically and picked up a wicket in the West Indies innings. For his all-round effort, the 28-year-old was adjudged as the Man Of The Match.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Patel opened up about his performance on Sunday and called it a special one as it came at a crucial time and helped India win the series.
The all-rounder also said that the team needs to remain calm and keep up the intensity. Patel concluded by saying that he wants to keep performing like this for India.
