On Koffee With Karan 7, Karan Johar mocked his movie Student Of The Year. The film featured Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.
Sidharth Malhotra and Vicky Kaushal graced the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 7. On his own chat show, Karan Johar got real and candid as he assessed his own film Student Of The Year. The film marked the Bollywood debuts of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth. The film opened to a mixed response but it did decently well at the box office. On KWK 7, Karan Johar mocked his own movie, SOTY, when Sidharth started speaking about the depth of his character in the film.
When Sidharth was about to speak about the depth of his character in SOTY, Karan added, "Which depth did you have in the character? Which film are you talking about?" He further said, "For Student of the Year, I had to come down to the brass tacks, that’s the only way people would see."
Going down memory lane, Karan continued to add, "I remember four days into me shooting, I was sitting with Abhishek Varman. He was my creative director on the film. And I was like, 'why are we making this film?' He said 'huh?' I said, 'Have you read the script?' He said, 'Karan what are you doing? You are the director, why are you saying such things?' Four days into the shoot I read the script cover to cover and I thought."
Later, Sidharth told him that he was undervaluing his own film. However, KJo added, "I don’t know what I was doing. I think I was drunk or something. I started shooting this film and I was like, 'Why is this script so bad?'."
On the work front, Karan Johar's upcoming production venture, Liger, is all set to release on August 25, 2022. The film stars Ananya Panday and Vijay Deverakonda. Post that, KJo's next production venture, Brahmastra, will be released on September 9, 2022.
