Pictures of Queen Elizabeth’s purple hands have gone viral online, sparking concern among netizens.
After being advised bed rest for a month due to a spinal injury, Queen Elizabeth resumed her duties and hosted the Chief of Defence Staff, General Sir Nick Carter at Windsor Castle on November 19. However, netizens saw a strange purple hue on the monarch’s hands in the pictures that were released by Buckingham Palace. Not only did the queen have the colour on her hands but, the General had it as well. The pictures of the 95-year-old monarch’s hands have gone viral online, sparking concerns among netizens.
In the pictures, the Queen can be seen wearing a floral dress and discussing affairs with the General in the Oak room. However, the purplish shade on her hands caught all the attention as the internet was concerned about her health. Luckily, to the relief of social media, doctors explained the phenomenon and termed it as a non-serious condition. According to Dr Jay Verma from the Shakespeare Medical Centre, it could have been Raynaud’s or just really cold hands. “It might be Raynaud’s phenomenon or just really cold hands. The purple is due to deoxygenated blood,” he told the Metro.
