Yogi Adityanath was sworn in as Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister for the second time. However, BJP leader Uma Bharti did not show up at the ceremony.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti arrived in Lucknow but was unable to attend Yogi Adityanath's swearing-in ceremony on Friday. The reason -- traffic jam and a minor oversight on the part of the local police and administration.
“I came to Lucknow to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Yogi ji’s cabinet. Here, due to a small mistake of the local police and administration, I could not reach the swearing-in venue due to traffic jam. I wish the success of Yogi ji government," she tweeted in Hindi.
Unanimously elected as the leader of the Uttar Pradesh BJP legislature party in a meeting in Lucknow, Yogi Adityanath took oath as the UP Chief Minister for a second term on Friday. Keshav Maurya and Brajesh Pathak were sworn in as his deputies.
Apart from the two deputy CMs, 16 Cabinet ministers also took oath during the swearing-in ceremony held at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Meanwhile, the ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Haryana CM ML Khattar and Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur among other senior leaders.
