Self-testing for coronavirus is convenient, but keeping the results to yourself can impact more than just your community. Whether your test is positive or negative, here's what to do next.
With the recent steep spike in demand for self-tests and the increasing positivity rate, "it is clear we're underreporting (Covid-19 cases)," said Dr. Georges Benjamin, the executive director of the American Public Health Association.
In the United States, positive results of Covid-19 tests administered by medical professionals are ultimately reported to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But there isn't any requirement for people to report their self-test results to health care providers or local public health departments.
