The role of market regulator SEBI should also be investigated in the market manipulation case involving a former stock exchange boss and a Himalayan yogi, a court today told the CBI.
"The reputation of the country is at stake. What's your rough estimate of the scam?" a special judge asked the CBI.
"Our credibility is at stake here. Who will invest in India if scams like this happen? You can't keep on investigating, it's already four years. You should complete the investigation soon," said the judge.
Former National Stock Exchange (NSE) chief Chitra Ramkrishna was arrested on Sunday over major lapses at India's largest stock exchange. Ms Ramkrishna is accused of taking huge decisions under the influence of a "Himalayan yogi", who, according to the CBI, turned out to be Anand Subramanian, the former Chief Operating Officer of NSE.
