Trisha Krishnan, who plays the role of princess Kundavai, has an onscreen rivalry with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s character Nandini in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. Reports suggested that Mani asked the two actresses not to become friends off-camera while shooting for their epic face-off scene. In an interview with IndiaToday.in, Trisha spoke about the viral selfie and working with Mani Ratnam and Aishwarya.
Trisha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan play two important roles in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan. The first part of the film will hit the theatres on September 30.
In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday.in, Trisha spoke about how her director gave her cues, asking her not to get too chatty with Aishwarya. When asked what was it like to not get too friendly with her co-star, Trisha laughed and said, “I hope we are good actors on that front. That was actually Mani sir saying it in a lighter vein because we were being noisy, chatty and talking. It was a very important scene we were shooting that day. He was laughing and passing by us and he was like, "listen, don’t get too friendly because I need you guys to dislike each other right now," So, it was one of those things.”
Trisha’s selfie with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from the sets of Ponniyin Selvan went viral by getting over 6 lakh likes on the former's Instagram page. Talking about the selfie, Trisha added, “These days, I don’t know what really goes viral. Suddenly, something is trending and going viral all over and I am wondering like 'okay I probably would’ve done that 2 years ago,' Why didn’t it go viral then? I think it is also the buzz and the positivity around the film which has created this excitement. To be very honest, I am proud that many things are going viral and trending. It has created such a good buzz for our film.”
