South of the border, U.S. residents from central and southern states, including the East Coast, faced similar weather including snow, ice, wind and extreme cold.
The Associated Press reported motorists were stranded, classes cancelled, government offices were shut down and power outages plagued several states including Kentucky, Indiana and West Virgina.

Residents of northern parts of Manitoba are in for a chilly start to their week.
Areas like Brochet and Tadoule Lake can expect very cold wind chills. According to Environment Canada, a cold air mass has dropped temperatures into the mid -30 C when combined with winds of 10 to 15 km/h.
Extreme wind chills near -45 will occur Monday morning into Tuesday morning before warmer temperatures move into the regions during the day.
