Supporters have defended Harris, who, if elected, would become the nation’s first female president. In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, UN ambassador Susan Rice called the attacks from Republicans “extremely offensive and dehumanizing.” Rice said the attacks insinuate that people from marginalized groups who achieve success or rise to leadership roles didn’t earn it.
