While heavy snowfall in the last two days has paralyzed life in Tawang district bordering China, citizens were seen enjoying and playing with snow in Jigaon, Dirang town of West Kameng district, which received snowfall after 15 years.
Local MLA Phurpha Tsering said that it's a blessing that Dirang town and the famous monastery of Dirang received heavy snowfall after a gap of 15 years.
Nawang Chotta, District Officer Public Relations Officer, speaking to India Today over the phone, said that Tawang town has been facing interruptions in power due to heavy snowfall since Friday.
"Water in pipelines has been frozen, due to which the public is facing a shortage of water supply through PhEd department. Data services have been down since yesterday (Friday) and even chief minister Pema Khandu who was on tour to his home town, Tawang, got stuck as helicopter services are halted and roads are getting blocked," Chotta said.
There was zero traffic movement in Tawang town on Saturday.
The temperature is breaking records and hitting minimum minus numbers.
