West Indies vs India, 2nd T20I: Obed McCoy's career best figures of 6/17 helped West Indies level the series 1-1 with a five-wicket win.
Obed McCoy's heroics with the ball on Monday helped West Indies level the T20I series against India 1-1 after registering a five-wicket win in the second T20I.
After winning the toss, West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran opted to field first and the decision proved to be the right one. Obed McCoy delivered the important wicket of Rohit Sharma with the very first ball of the match to put the visitors on the back foot. The left-arm pacer would return to dismiss Suryakumar Yadav in his next over with the score at 17 runs.
Rishabh Pant scored a quickfire 24 runs off 12 balls, but India kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Shreyas Iyer was the first to depart and Pant followed him back to the pavilion with the score at 61.
Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja combined together to form a partnership to get India past 100 runs, but Pandya's resilient knock was ended by Jason Holder. After that, it was the McCoy show, as the left-arm pacer picked up four wickets in the form of Jadeja, Dinesh Karthik, Ravichandran Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to end up with career-best figures of six for 17 runs in four overs. Holder cleaned up Avesh Khan to wrap up the Indian innings at 138.
Chasing just 139 runs, West Indies got off to a flyer as Brandon King attacked the Indian bowlers. However, the opener lacked support from the other end as first, Kyle Mayers departed for just eight runs.
Pooran was the next to go, with the score at 71. The West Indies skipper was dismissed by Ashwin. Shimron Hetmyer's uneventful stay at the crease was ended by Jadeja.
Khan then delivered a deadly blow as he dismissed King for 68 runs with the hosts in a spot of bother at 107 runs. The Indian bowlers mounted a strong fightback to push the game right down to the wire.
