Fortune smiled on Mahbub Alam of Suryapura village in Sadlichak gram panchayat of Malda District in West Bengal as a lottery ticket brought by him for merely 30 bucks turned his life upside down when it won the first prize of Rs 1 crore.
Mahbub, who works as a sharecropper, used to buy ‘Dear’ lottery tickets from Sentu Rabidas of Kumedpur Lottery Agency in the hope of winning cash prizes and turning his life around. However, when the day finally came and he won the bumper prize of Rs 1 crore, the man could hardly believe his luck.
He rushed to the Harishchandrapur police station with a lottery ticket seeking protection, after which he was provided with security.
Mahbub says that he is yet to make any decision about what to do with the huge sum of money he has just won.
However, he stated that making a house for his wife and three kids was one of his long-time wishes. Besides this, he also wants to ensure better education for his sons and daughter.
