West Bengal: India-Bangladesh 'Mitali Express' flagged off between New Jalpaiguri and Dhaka

The New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka 'Mithali Express' connecting India and Bangladesh was flagged off by the Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohammad Nurul Islam Sujon on Wednesday.
A new railway line connecting India and Bangladesh was flagged off from New Jalpaiguri today. The Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohammad Nurul Islam Sujon inaugurated New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka Cantonment ‘Mitali Express’, which will run on Sundays and Wednesdays.
Marking the third such train to run between India and Bangladesh, this train made its inaugural run from New Jalpaiguri Railway Station in West Bengal.
Other trains that run connecting Kolkata with Dhaka and Khulna are the Maitree and Bandhan express.
According to the reports, Mithali Express will cover a distance of 595 km between NJP and Dhaka with 69 km of track length being in India and the rest in the neighbouring country.
As per PTI, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) spokesperson Sabyasachi De said, "Indian Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and his Bangladeshi counterpart Md Nurul Islam Sujan from Delhi virtually flagged off the inaugural run of Mitali Express at 9.20 am on Wednesday."
The train will start at 11.45 am IST on Sundays and Wednesdays from the New Jalpaiguri junction. Completing an overnight journey, it will reach Dhaka at 9.15 pm Bangladesh Standard Time on Mondays and Thursdays.
De revealed that it's a fully air-conditioned train consisting of four chair cars and four sleeper coaches.
