Mamata Banerjee accused the Election Commission of taking directions from the BJP as Higher Secondary Examinations of state boards were rescheduled due to by-elections.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that Higher Secondary Examinations are being rescheduled due to by-elections and accused the Election Commission (ECI) of taking directions from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Mamata Banerjee said, " The BJP is suggesting and the EC is scheduling election dates accordingly. They are thinking of instigating riots. It is sad, the ECI could have seen the exam schedules before fixing polling dates."

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has revised the dates for the Class 12 exams. The board examinations are scheduled to be held between April 2 and April 26. The exam dates have been revised considering the by-elections to Asansol Lok Sabha seat and Ballygunge assembly constituency.
Mamata Banerjee said, "For some special reason we had to reschedule the Higher Secondary exams of West Bengal board. I wonder why during five state elections the by-polls in Bengal were not conducted?"
Raising concerns for the students appearing for the exam, Banerjee said, "Central forces will start arriving for the April 12 by-election. And they will stay in schools. So it will be difficult to conduct examinations simultaneously."
"I would say sorry. We apologise to the students and their families. We couldn't do anything," she added.
