West Bengal: 5 more CAPF companies to be deployed in poll-bound areas

The Central government on Monday decided to deploy five more companies of the Central Armed Police Force in poll-bound areas of Ballygunge and Asansol for tomorrow. The Commission stated that the central forces were being brought in to ensure that voters cast their franchise safely and without fear.

Earlier, 133 companies of CAPF were deployed. The Election Commission decided to deploy 133 companies of central forces for the April 12 by-elections in Asansol parliamentary and Ballygunge assembly seats.
The Commission stated that the central forces were being brought in to ensure that voters cast their franchise safely and without fear.
By-elections are to be held in one assembly and one Lok Sabha seat of West Bengal, which was announced by the Election Commission last month.
