We don’t want an FIR, we want arrests, say Muslim women listed for ‘auction’ on Bulli Bai app
India Today
After photographs of hundreds of Muslim women were uploaded on an app called Bulli Bai for an 'auction', the women have raised their voices to demand strict action against the perpetrators.
Last week, Muslim women targeted by an app called ‘Bulli Bai’ took to social media to raise their voices against what had happened. They said that photographs of hundreds of Muslim women had been uploaded on the app on open-source platform GitHub. The group behind the app collected photos of Muslim women from their social media accounts and encouraged people to participate in their "auction", the women said. We don’t want an FIR, we want arrests. Enough of bread-crumbing - show us actual action. We cannot let this happen a third time! Hello @NCWIndiaGood morning. Do you do anything other than taking cognisance after outrage? https://t.co/LKvmsrLDrG We have been sold and auctioned online on your platform. We demand answers, and deserve accountability from @github. @kdaigle @MylesBorins @natfriedman @omojumiller There are many Muslim names, including mine,in the obnoxious #BulliDeals , same as #SulliDealsEven Najeeb's mother has not been spared. It's a reflection on India's broken justice system, a dilapidated law n order arrangement. Are we becoming the most unsafe country for women?
After an outburst of outrage, IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed on Sunday that an investigation was underway and the perpetrator’s account had been blocked on GitHub.
