Rohit Sharma said that he was happy with the team's performance in the first T20I and wanted a repeat performance in the second game.
India captain Rohit Sharma said that the team will be aiming to repeat their performance from the first T20I in the second match against West Indies on Monday.
The Indian team secured a commanding win over the hosts last Friday and secured a 68-run win. Batting first, the visitors posted 190 runs in their allotted 20 overs, while West Indies could only muster 122 runs. Sharma top scored with 64 runs that day.
West Indies won the toss for the second match and elected to field first. Speaking after the toss, the India captain said he was happy with the performance last Friday and would be looking for a repeat performance on Monday.
Sharma also commented on the batting order and said that he wanted the players to be flexible and bat anywhere and doesn't want them to be in specific positions all the time.
"It was quite pleasing for us, the way we played first game. We stuck to our plans and executed it really well. It's another opportunity for us and we are looking to repeat what we did in the first one. We want the guys to be able to bat anywhere and don't want them to be batting in specific positions. We want the guys to be flexible, there are two ways to look at it depending on certain players," said Sharma.
The India captain continued by saying the team read the pitch well in the first game. He also said that the team would be using an extra seamer in the second T20I and Ravi Bishnoi was being replaced by Avesh Khan.
"We probably read the pitch well in the first game and thought as a team we made the right call to go with three spinners. The dimensions are different here and wanted to get an extra seamer here. Bishnoi misses out unfortunately and Avesh Khan comes in. It's unfortunate that he misses out but we are trying whatever we can from the team's perspective," said Sharma.
