India Today spoke to a group of volunteers in Stoyanka who were on their way to deliver relief material to the people impacted by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Talking about the horrors committed by Russian troops in Bucha, the volunteers said they were not scared but furious over the incident.
As details of the horrors committed by Russian troops in Bucha come to the fore, there has been growing international calls for a war crimes investigation into the killing of civilians in the Ukrainian town. The grisly images of battered bodies left out in the open or hastily buried have shaken the world.
India Today reached Bucha, which is less than 60 km away from the capital Kyiv, and witnessed ambulances and teams of doctors going door-to-door to deliver medical assistance to those who needed it.
In Bucha, international investigators are reportedly going house-to-house, gathering evidence that people may want to give, as well as video evidence. Apart from this, the investigators are also gathering evidence of crimes against women, civilians being tied and shot etc.
