You may be waking up to 15, 20 — maybe even 25 centimetres — of fresh snow this morning.
But after hours of continuous snowfall, meteorologist Geoff Coulson has some good news: the storm is mostly over. At least for this part of Ontario.
"Light snow will continue to the east of Toronto for the next few hours. Again the worst of the storm system is over, but quite a significant snowfall for many areas in southern and southwestern Ontario," Coulson, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada, told CBC News.
Conestoga College, which also closed all its campuses Wednesday afternoon, said it would make a decision on classes and campus activities later this morning.
While Wilfrid Laurier University did close its Waterloo and Brantford campuses at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, it said it planned to reopen at 7 a.m. today.
University of Waterloo, which also closed Wednesday at 5 p.m., did not detail plans for today's classes.
The cities of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge have all declared snow events, banning street parking for at least 24 hours, as of 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 25.
