Mullaperiyar and Vaigai dams report water levels below maximum, with moderate inflow and discharge rates.
The water level in Mullaperiyar dam stood at 122.70 feet (maximum permissible level is 142 ft.) on Sunday, with an inflow of 628 cusecs and a discharge of 1,200 cusecs. In Vaigai dam. the level was 52.07 ft. (the maximum level is 71 ft.) with an inflow of 846 cusecs and a discharge of 819 cusecs. Combined storage in Periyar credit was 4,230.19 mcft. Rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. on Sunday was (in mm): Periyar 1.4 and Thekkadi 0.6.
