A New Yorker has been able to capture the incredible ‘outing' of a duck and her eight ducklings as they strolled the streets of one of the most populous cities in the US. In a series of short videos that have gone viral, Doug Gordon, who is “trying to make our city's streets more humane for all”, showed how the birds took baby steps across a busy street as the traffic stopped. According to Mr Gordon, multiple people helped stop traffic to help the duck family, and the story only got better from there. A real-life “Make Way For Ducklings” scene just unfolded in Brooklyn with this mama duck and her babies trying to cross 5th Ave. Multiple people helped stop traffic to get them safely across the street. But it gets better… pic.twitter.com/cBK33pVdYF The mama duck and her ducklings then went into Bagel World. No word on what they ordered. pic.twitter.com/deNi7T8W2P After a few minutes the ducks came out and one of the Bagel World employees helped lure them to the opposite curb with some bread crumbs. They are on their way up 4th Street, hopefully to Prospect Park. pic.twitter.com/oZ0nMYY5Zv UPDATE: The ducks made it to Prospect Park! Out for a walk and I overheard someone talking about the ducks. I stopped to ask about them. He accompanied them all the way up to the park and they went into the woods. Happy ending! I LOVE that he walked them to the park. New Yorkers are making me proud. That Bagel World employee is what makes New York great!!Thank you, Good Samaritan! NYC ducks are so savvy. I don't think our #Charleston ducks would know to cross quickly in the crosswalk with the light. A lot of our local college students seem to struggle with this concept. That momma duck looking both ways before entering the crosswalk, then making a bee-line for the other side of the street has some serious New York City attitude. The family then entered a bagel store and came out after some time, with the camera following them all the while. There's still no word on what they ordered at the store. Mr Gordon followed the ducks on the footpath and to the Bagel World entrance but allowed them their privacy inside the eatery. The second video showed the ducks moving past a snacks display towards an empty area, possibly to survey the store like a potential customer would.More Related News
