As soon as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's feed beamed on the giant screen, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen led the parliament in cheering for the President.
Members of the European Parliament stood for nearly a minute as they clapped and cheered Ukraine's President Voldomyr Zelenskyy before and after he addressed the emergency session of the parliament today.

Wearing #standwithUkraine t-shirts with Ukraine's flag, blue-and-yellow scarves and ribbons, members, some with tears, cheered on a President who has been standing steadfast with his citizens and the military, and leading from the front in defending his country against a massive Russian invasion.
"We are fighting to be equal members of Europe," Zelenskyy said in Ukrainian in a powerful speech.
"Do prove that you are with us. Do prove that you will not let us go. Do prove that you are indeed Europeans, and then life will win over death and light will win over darkness," he said. "The EU will be much stronger with us."
The President, who joined the parliament virtually, raised his fist - a sign of express unity, strength, and resistance - before logging off.
