After having won the first ODI on Friday by just three runs, the visitors were looking to win the second match and take an unassailable lead in the three-game series.
Having won the toss, West Indies chose to bat first and got off to a flying start. Playing in his 100th ODI match, Shai Hope grabbed the spotlight as he scored a magnificent hundred to put his team on course for a big total. Hope's innings of 115 consisted of eight boundaries and three sixes.
He received ample support from the skipper, Nicholas Pooran, who scored 74 runs. Kyle Mayers and Shamarh Brooks also stepped up with useful contributions to see the hosts set up a competitive target of 312 runs.
In response, India were off to a slow start and lost three wickets for just 79 runs in 17.2 overs. Shreyas Iyer then combined well with Sanju Samson to stitch together a 99-run partnership to swing the match back in favour of India.
The wickets of Iyer and Samson provided West Indies with hope of winning the match. However, Axar Patel had other plans as he played a sublime 35-ball 64 to help the visitors get over the line and secure the series. This was India's 12th consecutive bilateral ODI series win against the West Indies.
