Mukesh Kumar knew about his India call-up after the Bengal pacer was added to the Team India WhatsApp group on Sunday, October 2. The 28-year-old pacer's selection news stoked a celebration in his family and his Rest of India teammates also made the day special.
As he was heading back to the team hotel in Saurashtra along with his Rest of India teammates, Mukesh Kumar learned about his selection. His teammates congratulated the Bengal pacer and celebrated the momentous news while on their way to the team hotel.
Mukesh Kumar was elated as he received the love and support of his teammates. It was Sarfaraz Khan who led the cheering along with his teammates for Mukesh Kumar.
Mukesh was picked in India's 16-man squad for the 3-match ODI series against South Africa, starting October 6. The Bengal pacer has been one of the most consistent performers for Bengal in domestic cricket in the recent past.

Mukesh Kumar has found a lot of success with the red ball, picking up 113 wickets in 31 first-class games. He has picked up 17 wickets in 18 matches in List A cricket at an impressive economy rate of 5.25. Mukesh made sure it was difficult for the selectors to ignore him as he picked up a 5-wicket haul in the first unofficial Test for India A against New Zealand A and shone on Day 1 of the Irani Cup with a 4-wicket haul that helped Rest of India bowl Saurashtra out for 98.
