When Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the Hanuman temple in UP's Rae Bareli, the head priest told her that he prays for Congress to form the next government not just in the state but at the Centre too.

During the 2014 general elections and in subsequent polls, the BJP had prominently played up the Ram Janmbhoomi issue to garner support. The poll strategy paid dividends: the saffron party was voted to power in 2014, as well as in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly election and the 2019 Lok Sabha race. Now, in a curious twist, a priest at a Hanuman temple in UP says he is praying for a Congress victory in the upcoming legislative assembly polls.
