It was stuck as the pit was quite deep. So, to rescue the elephant, a team of forest rangers brilliantly filled the pit with water. The water obviously made the elephant float to the top and, with the help of ropes, the team was able to retrieve the elephant from the ditch.
A rescue operation was carried out after the forest department received the distressing information at 1 AM and was completed by 4 AM.
“An elephant fell into a ditch in Midinapur. Now how to rescue it. By applying Archimedes' principle. Watch to believe,” Parveen Kaswan captioned the post.
