COVID-19 cases are on the rise in central Newfoundland, with 77 confirmed cases connected to a cluster in Baie Verte and 50 cases connected to another in Twillingate and New World Island as of Monday.
At 1:30 p.m. NT Premier Andrew Furey, Health Minister John Haggie, Digital Government Minister Sarah Stoodley and Dr. Rosann Seviour, acting chief medical officer of health, will hold a media availability to deliver the latest news on COVID-19 in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Stoodley is expected to provide an update on the province's vaccine passport plans.
A day ago the province reported 25 more new cases of COVID-19. Twenty-two of those were located in Central Newfoundland, where cases continue to spike and testing and vaccine efforts ramp up.
The province also reported another death related to COVID-19 on Monday, its eighth since the pandemic began and first since June.
There were 155 active cases in the province as of Monday's update, 135 of which are in central Newfoundland.
