Warden of children's home in Tamil Nadu arrested for sexually abusing children

A 36-year-old warden of a children's home in Tamil Nadu has been arrested on allegations of sexual assault. Seven children had complained of assault at the hands of the warden.
A warden of a government-aided children's home in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvannamalai was arrested after allegations that he had sexually abused children.
Based on a complaint, a team of officials from Childline, District Child Protection Office (DCPO), and the police visited the residential home to inquire about allegations of sexual assault on children.
The officials had received information from seven students via the child helpline number 1098. The seven children between the age of 14-16 alleged that they had been sexually assaulted by the warden.

The warden was identified as 36-year-old A Duraipandian, a native of Thoothukudi district.
The Chetpet police have registered a case under Sections 7, 8, 19 (1), and 21 (2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and section 506 (1) IPC. The owner of the home - Sagairaj has also been arrested.
This was one of the five homes for orphans and children who needed protection and this home had over 80 boys residing there. The hostel is attached to a private school.
