A war of words erupted between Congress MLA and youth congress leader Zeeshan Siddique and Maharshtra minister and NCP leader Jitendra Awhad on the issue of the state government's plan to provide flats for MLAs.
CM Uddhav Thackeray-led government in Maharashtra had earlier announced the decision to make 300 houses for the MLAs who hail from rural areas. The state government claimed that the MLAs who come from outside Mumbai find it very difficult to buy or rent a flat in Mumbai.
The announcement received criticism from several quarters, with many questioning why an MLA who gets other monthly allowances be allowed such facilities. Even though the housing minister clarified that the houses won’t be given out for free, the criticism and politics didn’t stop.

Amidst this, Congress leader Zeeshan Siddique took to Twitter to announce that he would not be taking the proposed house since many in his constituency didn’t have one.
He said, “I don’t need a house from the Maharashtra government when thousands of people in my Vandre east assembly aren’t getting houses and are living in dilapidated conditions. Request Maharashtra CM and Jitendra Awhad ji to spend this money to build their houses instead of giving houses to MLA’s.”
