A war of words broke out between Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and ruling Congress in Punjab over anti-Sikh riots and sacrilege cases.
SAD supremo Sukhbir Singh Badal claimed that the 1984 anti-Sikh riots was "perpetrated on the directions of the Gandhi family" and they should be "put behind bars". He demanded that a resolution to condemn the anti-Sikh riots should be brought in the upcoming Punjab Assembly.
