Airbus said a majority of the items have been selected from an A380 MSN13 dismantled by Tarmac Aerosave.
Between October 13 and 15, 380 lots of Airbus A380 aircraft will be auctioned at the global aircraft manufacturer's headquarters in Toulouse, France, as well as online. The auction will be held in association with auctioneer Marc Labarbe and the proceeds from the sales will go to Airbus Foundation and the AIRitage association.The A380 is a wide-body aircraft which is the world's largest passenger airliner.
In a statement, Airbus said a majority of the items have been selected from an A380 MSN13 dismantled by Tarmac Aerosave, partner of the auction and world leader in the sustainable management of the end-of-life of aircraft.
It elaborated, "more than 500 items, mostly from the cabin of this iconic aircraft, will be offered to enthusiasts, such as lamps, a bar, staircase, windows, seats, engine blades, and even the orange jumpsuit of the A380 test pilots."
Some of the pieces of the aircraft have been painted by contemporary artists to make them unique, while others have been made from raw materials used on the A380, to make longboards, skateboards or surfboards. Airbus said that the Airbus Foundation and AIRitage will donate the proceeds of the auction to one or more humanitarian and heritage missions.
