The Walking Football Federation president for Asia, Africa and Qatar Farhan al-Sheikh al-Sayed hosted a farewell walking football event in honour of outgoing Guinea ambassador Lansine Ani Toure at Al Jazeera Academy. Besides al-Sayed and Ani Toure, the participants included ambassadors Oscar Leon Gonzalez (Cuba), Mahadhi Juma Maalim (Tanzania), Chyngyz Eshimbekov (Kyrgystan), Isidore Ntirampeba (Burundi), Foday Malang (Gambia), Victor Tvircun (Moldova), Dr Mohamed Habibou Diallo (Senegal) and Mohamed Mafaz Mohideen (Sri Lanka). Al-Sayed handed over the best player medal to Eshimbekov in the presence of Ani Toure. The winning team trophy was lifted by the Guinea ambassador. Walking football is one of the fastest growing sports concepts in the world, attracting both women and men in the 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+ age groups. Walking football is a safe concept with fast walking and no tackling. The federation's popularity is growing among locals and all the communities living in Qatar, a press statement noted.
