Walkaroo International will invest in a new plant in Rajasthan this financial year to make printed flip flops and hawai footwear, said MD V. Noushad.
The plant will have total production capacity of more than one lakh pairs a day and the initial production would be 60,000 pairs a day. “The potential is very high for this segment of footwear,” he said.
Walkaroo, which closed FY22 with ₹1,850 crore total revenue, would invest ₹75 crore at the Rajasthan plant in two years. At present, it has 12 units across the country. The company expects 20% growth in revenue in the current financial year and is exploring the potential to start a unit in Africa. It has a plant in Bangladesh and would expand capacity to there as well, Mr. Noushad said.
Steep hike in raw material prices is the main issue of concern to footwear manufacturers now, he added.
