A report, quoting German intelligence officials, has stated that mercenaries and Russian soldiers had discussed the killing of civilians in Bucha, Ukraine.
Mercenary group Wagner allegedly played a key role in the Bucha killings, a report by BBC has indicated. Russian soldiers also appeared to have played a significant role in the killings, which the Kremlin denied having played a role in. The report was based on Russian messages reportedly intercepted by the Federal Intelligence Service of Germany.
According to German media, the country’s intelligence heard Russian troops discussing the killing of civilians in Ukraine’s Bucha.

German magazine Der Spiegel reported that some of the radio traffic tracked by the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) of Germany appeared to match the locations of the bodies found just outside Kyiv.
However, the Federal Intelligence Service is yet to comment on the issue. The Ukraine administration has said that more than 300 civilians were killed in Bucha by Russians. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy alleged that Russia committed genocide. But Russian President Putin has denied all charges.
Photos of the streets of Bucha that showed bodies strewn all around shocked the international community. Some of the visuals suggested that the victims’ hands were tied and they were shot in the back of the head.
The Ukrainian town of Bucha was seized by Russian troops soon after Putin’s troops invaded Ukraine on February 24. The Russians withdrew from Bucha after over a month, and Ukrainian forces entered the town.
