Voting for Uttar Pradesh zila panchayat chairpersons polls begin, results to be announced by evening

Voting for zila panchayat chairman positions in Uttar Pradesh's 53 districts began on Saturday. The polling began at 11 am and will go on till 3 pm. The counting of votes will be held after 3 pm. Chairpersons of 22 zila panchayats in 22 districts of the state were elected unopposed on Tuesday. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 21 of these seats, while the Samajwadi Party (SP) won one in Etawah.
