Voters can't take pride in defeating honest people like us: Kamal Haasan on Tamil Nadu local poll results

After his party drew a blank in the Tamil Nadu urban civic polls, Kamal Haasan said voters can't take pride in defeating "honest people" like them.
Following a drubbing in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu urban civic polls, Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan on Wednesday refused to accept the people's verdict, saying "voters can't take pride in defeating honest people".
The actor-turned politician's party drew a blank in the February 19 polls, the results of which were announced on February 22.
"Just saying we accept people's verdict is a formality; I don't want to do that. People do make wrong decisions and there are examples in history. Voters can't take pride in defeating honest people like us. But we'll continue our work for people," Kamal Haasan said in a statement.

MNM contested from many places with Kamal Hassan himself campaigning for the candidates. However, the party failed to make a mark.
The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and its allies won over two-thirds of the 12,800 plus ward member posts and bagged all the 21 municipal corporations. The main opposition AIADMK came a distant second.
