Vote on Senate's coronavirus bill looking unlikely soon -- despite amendment votes
Fox News
A final vote on the Senate’s massive coronavirus stimulus package was appearing unlikely early Saturday – and the outlook for later in the day or even Sunday was appearing grim as well.
The pessimistic outlook came despite Senate leaders reaching a deal with moderate Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin on emergency jobless benefits that was announced Friday night. An amendment based on the deal reached with Manchin was approved around 1 a.m. Saturday on a 50-49 vote. The plan would extend the government’s enhanced unemployment insurance (UI) program through Sept. 6 at $300 per week and provide tax relief to workers who received unemployment insurance compensation by making the first $10,200 of UI benefits non-taxable for the first time to prevent surprise bills for the unemployed at end of year.More Related News
