Vishwakarmas stage protest, demand arrest of accused in Bidar contractor’s death

Vishwakarma community demands justice for contractor's suicide, accusing Congress leader and demanding Minister's resignation.
Hundreds of people from the Vishwakarma community demanding justice for 26-year-old Bidar-based contractor Sachin Panchal, who died by suicide alleging harassment by a former Congress councillor and close aide of Minster Priyank Kharge, gathered at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Chowk in Kalaburagi blocking traffic movement on Wednesday.
District president of Vishwakarma Horata Samiti Devendra Desai Kallur has in a memorandum addressed to the Governor demanded the immediate arrest of the accused responsible for the suicide of the contractor and also the resignation of Priyank Kharge from the State Cabinet.
The agitators burnt tyres and raised slogans against the accused and demanded justice for Sachin’s family.
They said that the note written by Sachin before his suicide has accused Congress leader and former councilor Rajkumar Kapnoor and eight others of threatening to kill him.
Those responsible for Sachin’s death have not yet been arrested. The police have failed to take appropriate action in the case, the agitators said.
Religious heads of Vishwakarma Samaj Sri Ramchandra Swami of Almel, Sri Doddendra Swami of Ekdandi Mutt in Sulepeth, Sri Pranav Niranjan Swami and Brahmananda Swami of Murujaava Mutt in Afzalpur taluk and leaders of the Vishwakarma community were present.
In the syndicate meeting on December 20, 2024, Peer Jhad Fahimuddin, a member, objected to an event of special lectures by resource persons and experts from Delhi and other States organised by the Kannada Department on December 15, 2024 under the banner of the university without inviting any statuary officer, syndicate or Academic Council members.
