Visakhapatnam police use RFID tags with QR codes to prevent missing children cases at Indian Navy event.
The city police have used Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) driven tags to tackle the issue of missing children cases during the Operational Demonstration of the Indian Navy at the Beach Road here on Saturday.
As part of it, the police have tied QR code tags to the children attending the event. According to the police, if a child goes missing, the QR code on the hand of the kid will be scanned. The QR code contains information regarding the child including his/her name, details of parents, their contact number etc. While entering the venue itself, the police collected the data of the parents and provided tags to the children. Over 2,000 children have attended the programme, the police said.
Police Commissioner Shankabratha Bagchi said that this is for the first time, the police have used technology to ensure there are no missing cases of children.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has sealed 6,914 non-residential properties and attached 81,644 properties this financial year till January 4 for non-payment of property tax dues. The total number of defaulters as on Monday was 2,06,753 and the total dues from these properties stands at ₹329.15 crore.
