‘The move will hurt people from north Andhra region’
Secretary of the CPI(M), Greater Visakha City Committee, M. Jaggu Naidu, alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is trying to shift Waltair Division to Rayagada and demanded that the government stop its decision immediately. He along with a few Left party activists staged a protest before Visakhapatnam Railway Station and raised slogans against the BJP government on Saturday.
He said that Waltair Division is the highest revenue generator in East Coast Railway and setting up special railway zone in Visakhapatnam is a long-pending demand from the people of north Andhra region. But on March 25, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reportedly stated that the Cabinet has decided to arrange Waltair Division at Rayagada, alleged the CPI (M) leaders. This will hurt people from the region, especially unemployed youth who thought that a railway division will generate employment in this region. He also alleged that the BJP is trying to gain some fame in Odisha, and not supporting development in Andhra Pradesh.
