The recent trend in the COVID-19 cases suggests that the second wave that ravaged the district from April to mid of June, is coming under control. The number of new cases recorded on Monday morning was 75, which is said to be the second lowest in the recent times, after the third week of March. Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Dakshina Kannada MP, on Saturday urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to facilitate speeding up of ongoing critical infrastructure works in the region, including Mangaluru-Bengaluru NH 75 widening, establishment of Indian Coast Guard Academy, and merger of Konkan Railway Corporation with the Indian Railways.
