Virender Sehwag gets trolled for calling Virat Kohli 'chammiya' during India-England test match
India Today
After Mohammed Siraj took England wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings’ wicket for 36, Virat Kohli's celebratory dance got a snide remark from Virender Sehwag.
Former cricketer turned commentator Virender Sehwag found himself on the receiving end of criticism after using an objectionable term to describe Virat Kohli’s dance after getting a wicket. The incident happened during the 3rd day of the test match between India and England at Edgbaston.
During the match, Mohammed Siraj took England wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings’ wicket for 36. As Billings had the capability of reducing the run lead, naturally the players were too happy with the timely dismissal. Virat Kohli showed his excitement with a little dance as well.
Meanwhile, Sehwag, who was in the commentary box, compared Kohli’s dance to a ‘chammiya’. The comment has now left netizens agitated. While some termed the usage of the word as utterly disrespectful, others declared that Sehwag should be removed from the commentary box after this.
Here’s what people had to say:
What is this commentary???? pic.twitter.com/nB8TzlYN1y
@BCCI @virendersehwagWhat the hell is this?????!!!That's the reason we keep asking you to appoint professional commentators...!
Poor commentary and equally poor celebration from Virat. Time to take his own batting seriously. Too many players waiting to grab any open podition.
