Coach Rajkumar Sharma said that Virat Kohli was always confident while bowling but the IPL 2012 could have forced to change his mind. During the IPL 2012, Kohli bowled an over which helped CSK get out of troubled waters.
Virat Kohli turned the clock by six years as he bowled an over against Hong Kong in a T20I match at the Asia Cup in Dubai. India captain Rohit Sharma gave a little break to his bowling department, letting Kohli roll his arm over to leave his fans surprised.
Kohli bowled only one over and conceded six runs in the match that India won by 40 runs to qualify for the Super 4s. The last time Kohli rolled over his arm, he failed to defend eight runs in the semi-final match against West Indies in the 2016 T20 World Cup.
His childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma revealed that Kohli was always confident while bowling but the IPL 2012 could have forced him to change his mind. During the IPL 2012, Kohli bowled an over which helped CSK get out of troubled waters.
Kohli came to bowl in the 19th over when CSK were on 163/4. Albie Morkel slammed Kohli for 28 runs, including three maximums and two boundaries, which turned the match. CSK then smashed 17 runs off the final over to win the match.
"Virat was always confident as a bowler. Morkel did dent his confidence a bit in the past (laughs) but he was always keen to take the ball and used to say - 'give me the ball, I will pick wickets.' So it is great to see him bowling again," said Rajkumar on India News Sports.
Overall, Kohli has bowled a total of 25.2 overs in the shortest format of the game, conceding at 8.05 and picking up four wickets. His four victims were Kevin Pietersen, Samit Patel, Johnson Charles and Mohammad Hafeez.
Meanwhile, with the bat, Kohli showed glimpses of returning to form. He remained unbeaten on 59 off 44 balls. India will play Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 match on September 4.
