WI vs IND, 2nd T20I; Left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has picked up four wickets from two T20Is at an economy rate of 5.60.
Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma heaped praise on Arshdeep Singh for making an impressive start to his international career. After taking part in the 2018 U19 World Cup, Arshdeep played four seasons for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) before representing Team India at the highest level.
The left-armer donned the national colours for the first time on the tour of England earlier this year. Sharma said that Arshdeep seemed to have followed legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram’s tactics while bowling.
“It seems like Arshdeep Singh has followed Wasim Akram very closely as he holds the ball in his right hand while running to hide it from the batter. It's good to see that he's a thinking cricketer," Sharma was quoted as saying.
"He is still very young and has to learn a lot of things. But he is a very promising and a very intelligent cricketer," he stated.
Former Indian all-rounder Reetinder Singh Sodhi also had words of praise for Arshdeep, who has picked four wickets for India at an economy rate of 5.60.
"Arshdeep has performed well whenever he's been given the opportunity. While he wasn't a part of the playing XI for the last few games, it seemed like he had been working very hard in the nets. It's never easy to bowl the yorker, especially in T20 cricket. He is definitely ready for international cricket," Sodhi said.
Arshdeep was impressive in India’s first T20I against West Indies on Friday, July 29 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba in Trinidad.
