Vineet Kumar Goyal appointed new Kolkata Police commissioner

Senior IPS officer Vineet Kumar Goyal was named the new commissioner of Kolkata police, replacing Soumen Mitra. Mitra will retire today, as per the official orders.

Senior IPS officer Vineet Goyal is the new commissioner of police of Kolkata. He is a 1994 batch IPS officer who was posted as the additional director general (ADG) Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police. The current commissioner of Police, Soumen Mitra, will retire from service tomorrow on December 31.

IPS Vineet Goyal will take charge of Commissioner tomorrow at Lal bazar, the headquarters of the Kolkata Police. IPS Gyanwant Singh will take additional charge of the ADG STF from now.
